Haiti Medical Missions Best Practices Symposium

[Grey Dove, Inc.] On September 6-7, 2013 Grey Dove, Inc. will sponsor the Haiti Medical Missions Best Practices Symposium at the Miami Airport Marriott in Miami, FL. The symposium will begin at 5PM on Friday with a reception and Keynote address.

Saturday’s events will include presentations and workshops that focus on the development of standards of medical care for US based missioners who are intending to provide mobile medical clinics in Haiti.

Speakers will include, Sikumbuzo Vundla, COO of the Episcopal Diocese of Haiti; Hilda Alcindor, BA, RN, Dean of the FSIL School of Nursing, Leogane, Haiti; Charlotte Barry, PhD, RN, NCSN, Professor and Master Teacher, Florida Atlantic University, Lynn College of Nursing; and Frantz Large, MD, President of the Haitian Society of Opthamology.

This initiative is designed to improve the quality of care offered by US based mobile medical clinics in Haiti, increase the continuity of care for communities supported by the mobile medical clinics, and develop collaborative relationships among mobile medical teams and their Haitian medical partners. The symposium is a first step in the development of a web-based resource for individuals and teams engaged in medical mission work. The website will provide training modules, standards of care, networking possibilities, and related resources.

The conference is sponsored by Grey Dove, Inc., an organization dedicated to stimulating the will-being and sustainability of communities throughout the world by providing primary and specialized medical care and prevention education. Grey Dove was founded by the Rev. Clelia P. Garrity of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Delray Beach, FL. Rev. Garrity is also President of the Board of Directors of the South Florida Haiti Project and Coordinator of Esther’s Voice, a human trafficking awareness initiative in South Florida.
