ChurchNext launches new course exploring the spiritual practice of Walking the Camino

ChurchNext has released a new four-session online course that introduces learners to the history, spirituality, and enduring appeal of the Camino de Santiago, one of Christianity’s most treasured pilgrimage traditions.
Walking the Camino, taught by Patrick Keyser, Associate Priest for Worship at Washington National Cathedral and an experienced Camino pilgrim, explores pilgrimage as both an ancient Christian practice and a metaphor for faithful discipleship.
Beginning with the biblical foundations of pilgrimage, the course traces the development of the Camino through more than a thousand years of Christian history while also offering practical guidance for preparing physically, emotionally, and spiritually for the journey.
Participants will explore:
- The biblical roots of pilgrimage
- The history and traditions of the Camino de Santiago
- Practical preparation for modern pilgrims
- How the lessons of the Camino can shape everyday Christian life
Designed for both aspiring pilgrims and those who may never travel to Spain, the course emphasizes that pilgrimage is ultimately about spiritual transformation. Through scripture, Christian tradition, and personal reflection, learners are invited to discover how the practices of hospitality, gratitude, simplicity, and community can become part of everyday discipleship.
Whether preparing for the Camino itself or seeking a deeper spiritual journey at home, participants will find encouragement to walk more intentionally with God at every step.
