Anti-Racism Training

One reason systemic racism has been able to exist so long is because it is kept hidden and denied. But the Anti-Racism Commission (ARC) of the Diocese of New Jersey is dedicated helping to dismantle systemic racism in our nation and our church. ARC is shedding light on racism through a six-week course that focuses on awareness and understanding of how racism is hidden in the systems that make up the American society and culture: systems such as education, religion, government, justice, real estate, finance, news media … in fact, almost all systems and institutions. Together, these institutions collaborate in a system of racism that covertly reinforces false ideologies that perpetuate and justify racial and ethnic inequities. ARC invites you to register for Anti-Racism Training to learn the truth about racism in America and join the movement to dismantle it. The Training is an online educational program consisting of six two-hour classes on  Zoom and a self-study program in between the Zoom meetings. Each week leading up to the  Zoom classes, you will complete online self-study lessons that take most people about two hours a week to complete and that can be done at times that fit your individual schedule. The study material consists of recorded lectures, videos, and articles that provide a historical overview of systemic racism in America to help you understand its impact on society and on individual lives. The Training costs $100 per person. Scholarships are available based on financial need. Participants who attend all classes and submit all assignments will earn a Certificate of Completion from the Diocese of New Jersey.
