World-renowned Episcopal physician Dr. Audrey Evans honored in new film
A powerful and inspiring new film, Audrey’s Children, will be released in theaters nationwide on March 28. The film tells the remarkable true story of Dr. Audrey Evans, the groundbreaking Episcopal physician who revolutionized pediatric oncology and co-founded the first Ronald McDonald House.
Dr. Evans is internationally recognized for developing the Evans Staging System for Neuroblastoma, a breakthrough in childhood cancer treatment. When she began her work, only 10% of children diagnosed with cancer survived; today, that number has risen to nearly 80%, thanks in part to her pioneering efforts.
“To be the one who cares is one of the most rewarding experiences in a person’s life,” Dr. Evans famously said, capturing the spirit of her lifelong dedication to healing, innovation, and faith.
Audrey’s Children follows Dr. Evans’ journey as she becomes the first female Chief of Oncology at the prestigious Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 1969. Facing challenges including sexism, resistance from the medical community, and the heartbreaking realities of childhood cancer, Dr. Evans forged ahead to change the landscape of pediatric medicine forever.
