Dear Friends in Christ,
With both public and scientific knowledge of the nature and timing of an effective vaccine and treatment protocol for COVID-19 evolving on seemingly a daily basis; and with the very real possibility of a resurgence of the virus later in the year, the Executive Leadership Team has decided to keep the DFMS offices closed and the suspension of all non-essential travel, meetings, and conferences in place until further notice.
We recognize that there may need to be regional differences relative to reopening offices between New York, Washington, D.C., and Austin, Texas, and so we will be prepared to visit the timing of reopening with our management staff in each of these as local conditions warrant. Ultimately the decision in all cases will remain with the Presiding Bishop’s office. For staff who must come to the offices at 815 during this closure period, we ask that you conclude your work as quickly as possible and then leave. Please remember you must contact Su Hadden or Bill Savarese for an appointment to enter the building.
We understand and sympathize with those of you who are challenged to work remotely, and that if we could offer a date-certain for reopening it would be ideal, but the uncertainty of this present time makes any firm date suggested unrealistic. As an expression of Jesus’ command to love our neighbor, we are committed to the safety and health of all of our staff, visitors and those who come to our offices.
May we be God’s blessings, and instruments of God’s love. May the words of the Apostle Paul ring loudly and true in our hearts, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation, who consoles us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to console those who are in any affliction with the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God.” (2 Cor 1:3-4)

Estimados amigos en Cristo,
Ya que la información pública y científica acerca de la naturaleza y del momento de una vacuna eficaz y de un protocolo de tratamiento para COVID-19 evoluciona a diario; y con la posibilidad muy real de un resurgimiento del virus a finales de año, el Obispo Primado, previa consulta y acuerdo del Equipo de Liderazgo Ejecutivo, ha decidido mantener cerradas las oficinas del DFMS y la suspensión de todos los viajes, reuniones y conferencias no esenciales hasta nuevo aviso.
Reconocemos que puede ser necesario que haya diferencias regionales en relación con la reapertura de oficinas entre Nueva York, Washington, D.C. y Austin, Texas, por lo que estaremos preparados para considerar el momento de la reapertura con nuestro personal de administración en cada una de ellas como lo ameriten las condiciones locales. En última instancia, la decisión en todo caso recaerá en la oficina del Obispo Primado. Para el personal que tenga que ir a las oficinas de 815 durante este período de cierre, le pedimos que concluya su trabajo lo antes posible y luego se vaya. Recuerde que debe ponerse en contacto con Su Hadden o Bill Savarese para hacer una cita para poder entrar al edificio.
Entendemos y simpatizamos con aquellos de ustedes para quienes el trabajar remotamente es desafiante, y que sería ideal si pudiéramos ofrecer una fecha segura para reabrir, pero la incertidumbre del presente momento hace que sea poco realista poder sugerir alguna fecha concreta. Como expresión del mandato de Jesús de amar a nuestro prójimo, estamos comprometidos con la seguridad y la salud de todo nuestro personal, de los visitantes y de quienes lleguen a nuestras oficinas.
Que seamos las bendiciones de Dios e instrumentos del amor de Dios. Que las palabras del apóstol Pablo repiquen en voz alta y verdadera en nuestro corazón: “Bendito sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Padre de misericordias y Dios de toda consolación, el cual nos consuela en todas nuestras tribulaciones, para que podamos también nosotros consolar a los que están en cualquier tribulación, por medio de la consolación con que nosotros somos consolados por Dios.” (2 Co 1:3-4)
