The Brotherhood of Saint Gregory elects Ciarán Anthony DellaFera as new Minister General

The Brotherhood of Saint Gregory, a religious community of The Episcopal Church, held its Annual Convocation and Chapter Meeting at the Roslyn Conference and Retreat Center of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia in Richmond on August 26-31. On Tuesday, August 27th, following the Holy Eucharist, Chapter met in the chapel to recognize the retirement of Founder and Minister General Richard Thomas Biernacki BSG. By overwhelming vote, professed brothers then elected Ciarán Anthony DellaFera BSG to a five-year term as Minister General.

The Brotherhood is one of the first dispersed religious communities of The Episcopal Church, founded in New York in 1969 by Richard Thomas. He has served as Minister General for 55 years, but due to health conditions decided to retire, opening the community to new leadership.

Ciarán Anthony — a professed member of the Brotherhood for 36 years — has held various leadership positions during that time. He is a physician working in Family Practice in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He serves a variety of ministries through the Parish of the Epiphany in Winchester, MA.
