The Rt. Rev. Daniel P. Richards has called The Rev. Jill Williams to serve as Canon for Diocesan Transitions for the congregations of The Episcopal Diocese of Upper South Carolina. In her role, Williams will manage the entire process of transitions, including clergy recruitment, drafting and implementing search process materials, training and guidance for vestries and search committees, congregational portfolio management, application review, and letters dimissory.

The Rev. Jill Williams boasts an extensive background in The Episcopal Church having previously worked at the diocesan level and in congregations of varying sizes, as a camp director in Western Massachusetts, and as rector of St. Simon & St. Jude Episcopal Church in Irmo, SC.

The Rev. Canon Stephen Rhoades, Canon to the Ordinary, said, “Diocesan House is pleased to announce that Bishop Richards has called The Rev. Jill Williams to join Diocesan House staff as Canon for Diocesan Transitions. With her varied experience, Jill brings with her a special knowledge of the day-to day work of both parish and mission, and her love for the Diocese of Upper South Carolina. With her pastoral skills and warm, jovial approach, Jill will provide searching congregations and clergy with a reassuring presence, while expertly guiding them through the transition process. Please join Bishop Richards and Diocesan House staff as we welcome her into her new role in the Diocese – a place in which she is already at home.”
