On November 23, 2024, the two-year-old African Church Plant, Grace African Christian Connections (GACC), was honored with the prestigious Diaspora Impact Award from the African Professional Network at St. Louis University.

Established by The Rev. Mtipe D. Koggani and launched by The Rt. Rev. Deon K. Johnson in October 2022, GACC is not just a place of worship. It has gone beyond the traditional role of a church, creating partnerships and mutual ministries to support Africans in the St. Louis area. This unique approach has quickly confirmed the ongoing need to support immigrants and underrepresented communities within and outside the Church walls.

The impact of GACC’s ministry on the African community in St. Louis is significant. Hundreds of Africans have already benefited from its diverse offerings, including Free driving classes, Music classes for all ages, temporary Accommodations, free studio sessions, scholarships, groceries, and a Wellness Fund.

For many in the African community in St. Louis, GACC is more than just a church. It’s a family, a place to connect, share, and belong. It fills the void of being away from home and reduces the risk of depression, making it a vital part of the community.

GACC appreciates the support it has received from the Diocese of Missouri and The Episcopal Church, particularly the New Episcopal Community Grant and the Episcopal Evangelism Society.

“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.” (1 Corinthians 3:6)
