ChurchNext launches new course exploring the Enneagram as a tool for Christian spiritual formation

ChurchNext has released a new four-session online course designed to help learners explore the Enneagram as a pathway for Christian spiritual growth rather than simply a personality assessment.

Introduction to the Enneagram, taught by clinical psychologist and author Dr. Joseph Howell, introduces participants to the Enneagram’s history, purpose, and spiritual wisdom while encouraging deeper self-awareness, compassion, and authentic discipleship.

Beginning with the Enneagram’s historical and spiritual roots, the course guides participants through the process of discerning their Enneagram type before exploring one of its central themes: the distinction between the ego—the protective identity developed over time—and the true self created in the image of God.

Participants will explore:

• The history and spiritual foundations of the Enneagram
• How to discern their Enneagram type through reflection and lived experience
• The relationship between the ego and the true self
• Practical ways the Enneagram can support lifelong spiritual formation

Designed for both newcomers and experienced Enneagram students, the course presents the Enneagram as a companion for the Christian journey, helping learners cultivate greater compassion, freedom, and awareness of God’s work in their lives.
