Church Publishing announces the completion of the revised series for worship planners
Church Publishing, the publisher of official worship materials, books, music, and digital ministry resources for The Episcopal Church, is excited to announce the publication in July of the final volume in the updated and thoroughly revised series for curating worship resources in The Episcopal Church.
Written for clergy, liturgists, and worship planners, Planning for Rites and Rituals: Year A, B, and C are structured around the seasons of the church year and the Common Lectionary’s three-year cycle. The revised editions emphasize the liturgical resources authorized for use in The Episcopal Church and give clergy and lay worship planners a framework for approaching their liturgical choices. Each volume equips leaders to craft worship that is meaningful, seasonally grounded, and richly connected to Scripture.
The series provides practical resources for every Sunday, offering commentary on readings, guidance on the liturgy for each season of the church year, ideas for preaching, approaches for the Prayers of the People, and strategies for commemorating saints and feast days. It also includes new introductory material that suggests different approaches to curating liturgical resources. Whether planning a single service or shaping an entire liturgical year, this enduring resource brings clarity, inspiration, and depth to worship preparation. This edition includes contributions from clergy, educators, and musicians, including James Farwell, Marcus Halley, Deirdre Good, Thomas Pavlechko, and many more.
New editor Andrew R. Wright has applied his years of experience in planning liturgy at parishes across The Episcopal Church and mentoring clergy to this revision. He is Canon to the Ordinary for the Episcopal Diocese of Newark, New Jersey. Focusing his studies on Liturgical Theology, Wright received a Doctor of Theology and Master of Sacred Theology degrees from the General Theological Seminary after earning a Master of Divinity degree from the School of Theology of the University of the South (Sewanee). He is a member of the North American Academy of Liturgy, the Society of Scholar Priests, and the Associated Parishes for Liturgy and Mission. He lives in West Orange, New Jersey.
