Bexley Seabury enhances homiletics program with appointment of the Rev. Kelley Hudlow as instructor in preaching
Bexley Seabury Seminary proudly announces the addition of The Rev. Kelley Hudlow to its esteemed faculty as the Instructor in Preaching, a move set to significantly bolster its homiletics curriculum.
Responding to student feedback and recognizing an opportunity for curriculum development, Bexley Seabury has appointed The Rev. Kelley Hudlow in 2024 as a permanent instructor dedicated to preaching. This strategic enhancement aims to fortify foundational homiletics courses, integrate preaching skills across the curriculum, and expand elective offerings in this vital area of ministerial formation.
The Rev. Kelley Hudlow, called upon by the Board of Directors, is set to guide students through the nuances of effectively communicating the gospel across diverse contexts, emphasizing attention to marginalized communities and contemporary societal issues. Dr. Jason Fout, Academic Dean, expressed his enthusiasm about her joining: “I am thrilled that Kelley Hudlow has agreed to join our faculty! She brings a depth of commitment to Jesus, a patient and listening demeanor with others, a searching and creative intellect, a keen commitment to the church’s mission and to justice for all people. She has simply lived out the gospel in all its implications in her particular context. She is a gift to the church and will be a blessing to our students.”
Beyond her role in teaching, Kelley will participate in Field Education courses and serve as a faculty mentor in the seminary’s innovative competency-based degree program. “I am excited to join Bexley Seabury as the Instructor in Preaching, and I look forward to collaborating with students to create a learning community that invites them to deepen their relationship with scripture, try new practices, be vulnerable, and give and receive feedback,” said Kelley. ” My mission is to help students develop a practice of preaching that enables them to thrive in their ministry and develops their authentic preaching voice so that they can lead their communities into deeper relationships with God, each other, and their neighbors.”
