|St. Paul’s Episcopal Church|
|St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, located in Kankakee, IL, is seeking a half-time rector to work collaboratively with the congregation to help them grow more fully into their bi-cultural identity, deepen weekly formation opportunities, and further develop community-based ministries. In the last decade, through intentional community evangelism, St. Paul’s congregation has transitioned from being 99% Anglo to being 70% Latinx and 30% Anglo. They have one bi-lingual Sunday service, and have worked hard to welcome and integrate new members in the life of the church, including leadership positions. St. Paul’s has strong lay leadership in place that has led well through this transition time. The next rector will ideally be bi-lingual or willing to learn Spanish and develop strong cultural competency skills. While the position is currently part-time, the congregation has a long-term goal of continued congregation building, to make this a full-time position.
Kankakee, located 60 miles south of downtown Chicago, has the benefits of a small town atmosphere and low cost of living, while being relatively close to Chicago and its many amenities.
