Job Description
While every effort has been made to describe the position as fully as possible, we expect that changes will occur in the duties for this position as we become the Episcopal Diocese of the Great Lakes. As our Presiding Bishop elect, The Rt. Rev. Sean Rowe, preached at our General Convention in June: ‘We must put on the Armor of Love for the work that lies ahead, in order to effect the transformation of the world by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.’

We seek candidates who will creatively approach and embrace the excitement, possibilities, and challenges of this work.

The Director of Communications is responsible for shaping diocesan communications strategy and tactics, working closely with the Bishop / Ecclesiastical Authority and the leadership of the diocese(s). This person understands and demonstrates that in an ever-changing communications landscape the need for cutting-edge communication strategy across all platforms (digital and print) is necessary. The Director of Communications is accountable for providing resources and training throughout the diocese(s) with specific attention to local congregations, so that they may communicate vibrantly and effectively over multiple platforms, building and strengthening their communication tools and strategy. This position reports directly to the Bishop / Ecclesiastical Authority, and supervises and directs the work of the Communications Assistant.
