Job Description
Associate Rector (Full-Time)
St. John’s Episcopal Church, Georgetown seeks a joyful, imaginative, and relational Associate Rector to help lead a vibrant parish where creativity, connection, and spiritual depth shape our common life. Working closely with the Rector and staff, the Associate Rector shares fully in worship, pastoral care, and parish leadership. Tagline: “Be you. Be here. Belong.”

Key Areas of Ministry

  • Congregational Vitality: Nurture shared ministry, empower lay leadership, support small groups, assist with stewardship, and cultivate radical hospitality.
  • Christian Formation: Envision and lead creative formation programs for all ages, including adult education, Bible studies, and sacramental preparation.
  • Worship & Music: Preach, preside, and lead liturgies; partner with the Director of Music; serve as clergy liaison for the international concert series.
  • Leadership & Community: Assist with operations and strategic planning; serve as liaison for young adult and social justice ministries.
Qualifications
  • Ordained priest or transitional deacon in good standing in The Episcopal Church (or full communion partner).
  • M.Div. or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of parish experience.
  • Strong preaching, writing, and interpersonal skills.
