Brazil: Archbishop welcomes Olympic sportspeople but criticizes organizers

[Anglican Communion News Service] The primate of Brazil has given a warm welcome to the athletes and visitors of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, while criticizing the games’ administrators for serious mismanagement. Archbishop Francisco de Assis da Silva of the Episcopal Anglican Church of Brazil said that the Olympic Games “bring together the peoples of the world through healthy competition in several individual and team sports” and provide the opportunity to “encounter, learn, and share the world’s diversity.”
